About Impala Platinum Engineering Learnerships
The Impala Platinum Engineering Learnerships mix practical exposure at the company’s mining sites with theoretical instruction in engineering disciplines. The program ought to provide the learners with comprehensive exposure to mining engineering concerning mechanical engineering and electrical engineering while gaining hands-on experience in one of the most important sectors of the economy in South Africa.
The learnerships are principally focused on young South Africans interested in careers in the engineering community. These learners are being mentored through the knowledge and expertise of seasoned professionals within the industries of mining operations, engineering design, and problem-solving. In addition to this challenge, these learnerships bring with them the formal training and development opportunities that will help participants communicate and work together.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this learnership, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Educational Qualifications: Completed N3 or NCV4 Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Light Current – Instrumentation).
- Subjects at N3 level: Mathematics, Industrial Electronics, Digital Electronics, and Industrial Instrumentation.
- Basic Knowledge: A fundamental understanding of the applicable trade is required.
- Health: Must be medically fit for both plants (BMR and PMR).
Training Programme / Duties and Responsibilities
- Duration: The learnership lasts for 42 months and includes a structured training programme under the auspices of the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA).
- Training Focus: During the learnership, the incumbent will gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime in the production sections.
This comprehensive programme is designed to provide the necessary skills and experience to become a qualified Instrument Mechanician.
