YearBeyond is a national programme aimed at improving youth unemployment so that young people between the ages of 18 and 25 can access meaningful work experiences and pathways to further study or employment. Having started in the Western Cape, YearBeyond has grown into a national programme, creating a culture of community service and personal development.

Highlights Of The Annual Program:

Serve: YeBoneers take part in different roles in the social sector, bringing positive changes in society. More than 70% of alumni can be said to remain active contributors to communities postprogramme; above 40% enter the social sector.

Equip: This programme focuses on mentoring at the workplace, and a training program prepared for the youth as well. As much as 96% of them are prepared, they feel better prepared for job work or further study opportunities.

Connect: YearBeyond connects youth to peer-to-peer networking activities, educational institutions, and potential employers, ensuring that 75% transition into some new opportunities within three months of leaving the programme.

Application Details for YearBeyond 2025

The YearBeyond programme is now open. Some of the criteria for candidates wanting to be YeBoneers include the following:

Age: 18-25 years.

Location: The applicant must be residing within 5km of a YearBeyond site.

Registers: Must also be registered on the SAYouth.Mobi platform.

Certain streams of the programme may have further requirements; for example, minimum matric marks for certain languages or mathematics. It is best to check these before submitting an application.

Interested individuals can apply through the YearBeyond website. The application opened on January 6, 2025, and will remain open until June 25, 2025.
